Federal Election

The Canadian federal election, which is anticipated to be the 45th Canadian federal election, must be held on or before October 20, 2025, according to the fixed-date provisions of the Canada Elections Act. This election will determine the composition of the House of Commons for the 45th Canadian Parliament. Scheduled for October 20, 2025, unless a snap election is called earlier due to a vote of no confidence or other political developments.

Although the fixed date is set, an election could be triggered sooner if the government loses a confidence vote. This could happen if a majority of MPs vote for a motion declaring no confidence or if the government fails to pass critical legislative items like the budget.
